When it comes to learning English, people tend to fall into two extreme behaviors: either they devote themselves to memorizing words obsessively but give up after just a few days, or they collect numerous courses, apps, and learning methods, yet the actual number of times they actually speak English remains very limited. Recently, I came across a guide titled “Life Progress Guide” on GitHub, and I found it…
When it comes to learning English, it’s easy to fall into two extremes: either you memorize words crazily and persist for a few days before giving up; or you collect a bunch of courses, apps and learning methods, and in the end the number of times you actually speak English is still only a handful.
Recently flipped to GitHub"Advanced Guide to Life", I feel it’s quite special.
This project was originally an English learning guide. (The author's English learning notes) Later, the author continued to update it, and now it has expanded from simply "how to learn English" to a complete set of content on English learning, AI-assisted learning, writing, entrepreneurship, personal review, and long-term growth. The project has received approx.58.4K Stars and 6K Forks, it shows that there is really something~
This project is currently only available on GitHub: https://github.com/byoungd/up
For your reference during the holidays, I packaged it and downloaded it as a PDF version:

The problem it originally solved was actually very simple:
How should ordinary people learn English?
Therefore, the early content mainly revolves around vocabulary, listening, reading, speaking and writing. However, as the project continued to be updated, the author gradually regarded English as a "tool to connect to the larger information world", so he added content such as AI learning, writing, vocational skills, entrepreneurial experience, and life review.
Now the project can be roughly understood as three routes:
English learning → AI improves learning efficiency → truly uses abilities in work and life.
If you just want to learn English, you can just read the English part without having to read all the dozens of articles.
This is also what I think is more comfortable about this project: it does not require you to learn from the first lesson to the last lesson like a traditional course, but more like a study manual that can be read at any time.
