An open-source AI programming agent that supports over 500 different models.
Kilo (often referred to as Kilo Code) is an open-source AI-powered programming agent that supports a wide range of platforms, including VS Code, the entire JetBrains suite, command-line terminals, and cloud services. Recently, a desktop version named Kilo Desktop, as well as iOS and Android clients, have been released. These allow users to initiate programming tasks on their mobile devices, monitor the progress of sessions, and review pull requests.
The most prominent feature is the freedom in choosing models: users can access over 500 different models. The official provider resells these models at their original prices without any markups. It is also possible to use one’s own API Key or connect to local models, ensuring that the code does not need to leave the user’s device. For those who prefer not to select a specific model, there is an “Auto” mode that automatically selects the most suitable model based on the task’s complexity. In addition, a range of free models are available for use. The platform also offers team-oriented features such as code review and integration with Slack.
The plugin itself is free of charge; the main cost arises from the use of model APIs. It is ideal for developers who wish to avoid being tied to a single vendor and want to use the same intelligent agent in various editors. It follows the same development philosophy as Cline and Roo Code, and its interface and functionality are quite similar to those of these tools.
