Maildun

Maildun is an open-source email marketing platform that covers three main use cases: mass marketing campaigns, automated sequence emails, and transactional communications. It can be considered a self-deployable alternative to Mailchimp.

There are three ways to design emails: manually arrange the content by dragging and dropping elements, use the built-in AI assistant to generate the email according to your brand’s style, or utilize MCP to allow your own AI system to write and edit the email for you – for example, you can simply instruct it to “create a release email for this version update”. The newly launched Mac client comes equipped with a native email editor and an AI assistant that work in conjunction with the local AI models on the Mac.

The open-source version allows users to host and control their data independently; the Mac version is available for free. The officially hosted version is currently in the waiting list phase. This solution is ideal for independent developers and small companies who possess certain technical skills and prefer not to be charged based on the number of contacts by email marketing SaaS services.
