Claude Code helps you edit and produce videos.
Takes is a free and open-source Mac application designed specifically for creating voice-over and explanatory videos. On the recording side, it features a teleprompter that adjusts its scrolling speed in real-time to match your speaking pace. There is also a button that allows you to record both the camera feed and the screen content simultaneously. All recorded materials are saved in standard folders, without the use of any proprietary file formats.
What’s interesting about this editing process is that it allows you to use your own Claude Code subscription to handle the editing tasks. Claude Code will select the best segments, remove any mistakes or pauses, add subtitles, and then generate both horizontal and vertical versions of the final video. In other words, it effectively replaces the traditional “editor” with a programming agent.
This is ideal for individual creators who update their YouTube or video account content regularly on a weekly basis, as well as independent developers who need to create product demonstrations. The prerequisite is that you have a Mac and are subscribed to Claude; Windows users cannot use this feature for the time being.
Before using it to shoot vertical short videos, you can…TVLabObserve how popular dramas with similar themes begin, and at which episode the plot takes a turn. Then select an inspiration card that contains detailed scene breakdowns, and use it to create each scene one by one, following the sequence specified in the card.
