Private desktop AI driven by local models
NINX is a desktop-based AI workspace that is compatible with both Mac and Windows. Its core principle is “local by default”: when it starts, it uses the models installed on your local computer for tasks. Files and data generated during operations remain on your own device; using cloud-based models requires your explicit selection – the system will not automatically switch to them. You can also enter your own API Key to use additional features.
It comes equipped with a wide range of functions: it allows you to converse with AI, connect to commonly used applications, use Codex to write code, schedule automated tasks, and create videos within the Studio. Its built-in InkFlow feature provides system-level voice input, enabling you to directly dictate your thoughts at the cursor position using the local Whisper technology. Tools such as Shell, the browser, and connectors all require your confirmation before each execution.
In addition, there are features such as Notes for recording sessions and Rooms for collaborative work among multiple people. These options are particularly attractive to individuals and enterprises that are reluctant to store their data in the cloud. The official website even provides specialized solutions for governments and banks.
