AI-assisted patient reception and preliminary data collection during consultations in medical institutions
Athel AI is a Canadian company specializing in AI applications for medical scenarios. Its main product, PatientOS, consists of three key components: pre-clinical consultation, patient reception, and electronic transcription of medical records.
Pre-diagnosis involves conducting an adaptive consultation in the patient's own language before they arrive at the hospital. The questions are tailored based on the patient's responses, and the results are directly entered into the hospital’s electronic medical record system (EMR), allowing physicians to access this information prior to their consultations. The reception service is available 24/7 for answering calls and making appointment arrangements. Transcription involves listening to the doctor’s narration of the medical records and organizing the text accordingly once it is completed.
It has already been integrated with commonly used EMR systems in Canada, such as Accuro, OSCAR, and TELUS. It covers areas including psychiatry, cardiology, gastroenterology, oncology, general practice, and emergency triage, and complies with both PIPEDA and HIPAA regulations. For clinics and hospitals wishing to experience a demonstration, appointments are required; it is not available for individual use. Although it cannot be directly applied in domestic hospitals at present, it can serve as a reference example for the integration of AI into outpatient procedures.
