Photo metadata cleaning
Camera brand and model, lens, aperture shutter ISO, shooting time accurate to seconds, software information, and GPS longitude and latitude are often included in photos taken with mobile phones. Some files have the author's name embedded in them. A picture of a cat taken on your balcony may contain the coordinates of your home.
Use exifr to read and list all fields locally in the browser. The location and author will be individually marked as privacy risks, so you don't have to look for them in a bunch of parameters. The clearing process is Canvas recoding - generating a new file instead of hiding the fields, so EXIF and GPS cannot be found in the exported copy using any tool. The picture size is consistent with the visible content, PNG retains transparent areas, JPEG is re-encoded with high quality, and you can check it again for confirmation after cleaning.
Before posting photos on public platforms, before posting photos of second-hand products, before posting photos of rentals and houses, and before posting photos to strangers. Most social platforms will automatically strip off EXIF, but email attachments, network disk direct links, forum original images, and WeChat "original images" will not be sent in these ways.
Album organization information and copyright fields will also be gone, which is the inevitable result of recoding. Save a copy of the original image and don't overwrite it with a clean copy.
