Compliance labels for AI character images
Amazon requires that the metadata of images generated by AI systems include the compliance label “contains-synthetic-performer”. This tool is designed to perform this task in batches, ensuring that both the “dc:subject” field in XMP and the “Keywords” field in IPTC are updated accordingly. When Amazon uploads these images, it checks these two fields; failing to update either of them could result in issues during processing.
The advantage over manually editing metadata is that the system automatically performs read-back verification after the updates are made, ensuring that each keyword has indeed been successfully added. Metadata writing failures usually occur silently; without this verification process, it would be impossible to detect such issues. You can either drag JPG and PNG files into the program for batch processing, or you can process an entire folder at once. Whether you choose to download individual files or package them into a ZIP file, the process is equally feasible.
Its role is to ensure that keywords are accurately entered into the corresponding fields and to perform verification tasks; however, it does not make decisions regarding compliance requirements—such as which images must be labeled, how keywords should be filled in, or whether there are any differences between the requirements of different websites. The current policies of Amazon and the latest guidelines provided by the target website should always serve as the reference. Platform rules are subject to frequent changes, so it is essential to carefully review the official documentation before listing any products.
