People who use multiple AI systems simultaneously likely encounter this problem: preferences that were clearly expressed in ChatGPT have to be reiterated from scratch when using Claude.

Notion now offers a way to enable ChatGPT, Claude, and other connected applications to read from and write to the same notes, preferences, and skills—all stored within your Notion workspace.

The process consists of three steps. First, connect the relevant components within Notion’s integration library or the corresponding AI application. Next, insert a preset prompt provided by Notion so that the robot will first review these notes before providing answers, and only save the results after they have been deemed useful. Finally, add the custom commands generated by this process to the settings of ChatGPT or Claude. Repeat this process for each respective AI platform.

The second step is the one that is most likely to be skipped, yet it is precisely the most crucial one. Notion itself acknowledges that without those guiding words, robots often ignore this connection.

So, this isn’t really about establishing some fundamental connectivity between different systems; rather, it’s about using the MCP interface along with a corresponding prompt message to transform Notion into several external storage spaces that can be shared by multiple AI systems. All the content is stored in a database called Memories, where users can view and modify it at their own discretion.

This feature offers an additional advantage over the built-in memory systems of other applications: you can clearly see what has been recorded and delete it manually if necessary. Notion AI already has a large number of dedicated users, and for them, their note libraries have essentially become a long-term extension of the AI’s “memory system,” with virtually zero cost associated with transitioning from one system to another.

The downside is that AI will start adding content to your workspace. For those who are used to storing all their work materials in Notion, it might be more convenient to create a dedicated page for AI to use.
